History

IBD Institute (IBDI) was founded on August 1, 2008 in Boston, MA by two Harvard/MIT graduates who saw the opportunity to develop certification programs for business professionals seeking career advancement. Below is a history of our progress.

In 2008, IBDI launched the first-of-its-kind certification program for business professionals, The Charter in International Business Development. Since then, candidates from the United States, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East have successfully completed the program and earned their Charter.

In 2010, IBDI launched its online Custom Learning Platform (CLP), which provides candidates worldwide to login, register and enroll in the CIBD Program, study at their own pace, and take the CIBD Exam.

In 2012, IBDI expanded its educational programming to include specific topics, such as finance, economics, and general management. Through the CLP, candidates can access courses and earn certificates of completion for inclusion in their resumes and CV’s.

In 2015, IBD launched its social and business networking platform, the IBD Social Network (ISN), a business and employment-oriented social networking service that operates via the IBD website. It is mainly used for professional networking, including employers posting jobs and job seekers posting their CVs. ISN allows users(members and employers) to create profiles and “connections” to each other in an online social network which may represent real-world professional relationships. Users can invite anyone (whether a site user or not) to become a connection.
